£3m move sees Rangers miss out on reported summer target

Reported Rangers target Jack Marriott will not be arriving at Ibrox this summer after Derby County officially announced this morning that he will join up with Frank Lampard’s squad. Sky say that he has joined Derby for and initial £3m, with the deal potentially reaching £5m with add-on packages. With only Umar Sadiq providing cover for Alfredo Morelos in attack, Rangers could do with another signing in the final third, especially if last season’s joint top scorer Josh Windass also leaves the club this summer. Sadiq is still not fit enough to play for the Gers, failing to make the trip to Croatia this week to face Osijek in UEFA Europa League action. Ten players have officially been announced as new Rangers players this summer but with one or two more positions still needing strengthened, the most important work of the summer could come over the next few weeks as English clubs ramp up their spending. Will Rangers bring in a striker to compete with Morelos and Sadiq? What are your thoughts on the current state of Steven Gerrard’s squad right now? Let us know in the comments below…
