With news the other day about Rangers potentially capturing Kean Bryan from Manchester City, it’s being reported today that he will soon be announced as our eleventh signing of the summer under manager Steven Gerrard. As I type that confirmation has not yet come through. The Scottish Sun have reported that an announcement surrounding the 21-yer-old is imminent as talks on a personal terms front have now been agreed. They say he’ll sign a three-year deal worth a total of £2.5million in wages and we have agreed an undisclosed signing on fee with his deal at the Premier League Champions running out. He did spend last season out on loan with Oldham Athletic in League One where he played alongside Stevie’s cousin Anthony Gerrard, but the expectation is he comes to us with the left midfield spot earmarked for him. It must be said there is some confusion on whether this is a free agent deal, a transfer or just a loan. Reports are somewhat conflicted on that front. He’s a former England Under 20 international and former youth boss Patrick Vieira has previously stated he’s destined for the top of the game if he keeps developing, so his capture is quite a coup and his versatility will certainly be an asset.
