Rangers supporters won’t get a chance to see Umar Sadiq in action on Thursday evening against NK Osijek after he did not travel with the squad to Croatia due to fitness issues, as reported by The Scottish Sun. New signing Sadiq is not quite up to the fitness standards required to play for the Gers and has stayed behind in Glasgow to work on that while the rest of the squad attempt to secure a big result away from home. The Nigerian had been included in the UEFA squad list for the encounter, but if he’s to play against Osijek, it will be in the second leg at Ibrox next week. His absence means the pressure is now on Alfredo Morelos to produce a big performance and try to snatch an away goal after his poor performance away to Macedonian minnows FK Shkupi last week. Morelos’ form since joining last summer has been something of a roller-coaster, periods of goalscoring have been interspersed with barren spells leading the Rangers attack. With no help from Sadiq either from the start or from the bench this evening then he could look like a lonely figure again up against the Croatian defensive line. Can Steven Gerrard’s side produce a good enough performance from midfield to support the Colombian? How do you see tonight’s match against Osijek going tonight? Let us know in the comments below…
