Rangers supporters would love to see Glenn Middleton get more action in Steven Gerrard’s team after his impressive performance against Wigan Athletic at Ibrox on Sunday. The youngster was a real livewire throughout the match, looking like a player that can really offer a unique threat in the final third. He has pace, skill, confidence and perhaps most importantly, he gets supporters off their seats at Ibrox. It’s been quite a long time since we’ve seen someone do that consistently. It may have only been a friendly, but the 3-0 win was another encouraging sign things are moving in the right direction under Gerrard. The manager now has a big decision to make when it comes to Middleton, should he start against NK Osijek on Thursday? It could be seen as a risk to throw the 18-year-old into a high pressure European fixture but, frankly, he has looked like one of our best players in pre-season. These fans took to Twitter today to share their thoughts… Glenn Middleton needs to start this season. The end product he produces is something we’ve no had in a good number of years. Direct running, does defensive work well and can take a man on. Age means fuck all. If you’ve got it, you’ve got it. — Precision (@oPR3CiSiONx) July 29, 2018 Don’t care if he’s only 18….if Glenn Middleton isn’t a first pick for us when the season starts, there’s something far wrong. Stand out player today — GrahamS (@graham_S69) July 29, 2018 Glenn Middleton is a gem of a player. Not scared to take his man on and has bags of pace #rangers — jameslee (@Jayzee1972) July 29, 2018 Glenn Middleton – one of the best things to come of the Murty era. Wish he’d have got a start last season, who knows what he could’ve contributed? But we can’t rewrite history. Happy to see what he’s made of this season. Impressed so far from what I’ve seen. — Shagger ‘n’ Lime (@Gers89_) July 29, 2018 Glenn Middleton… what a player btw ???? — ???????? Fergie ???????? (@RossFerguson) July 29, 2018 I love watching Middleton play. Great energy and a massive amount of desire. Particularly Middleton doesnt seem behind Kent though I havent seen enough of the latter. — Raúl Sánchez (@raulsdf) July 29, 2018 I’m sorry but Middleton has to start on Thursday, the boy has the abilty and talent to handle it! — Jim Kane ???????? (@jimrtid) July 29, 2018 Would be very surprised if Glenn Middleton doesn’t start on Thursday. Been impressive today. — Thomas Jerome Newton (@T_J_Newt) July 29, 2018 Has Glenn Middleton done enough this pre-season to deserve a start vs NK Osijek at Ibrox? Have your say in our poll below…
