'Imposter', 'Time to pack it in' - Rangers fans destroy senior player after win v Shkupi

A section of Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to slam Josh Windass for his performance in their side’s Europa League qualifier win against Shkupi on Thursday evening. $bp(“Brid_30866975”, {“id”:“13259”,“width”:“16”,“height”:“9”,“video”:“269651”}); Steven Gerrard got his Ibrox reign off to a winning start with a 2-0 triumph through a first-half Jamie Murphy goal and a late penalty from skipper James Tavernier. Rangers supporters were delighted with the win ahead of the second leg in Macedonia next week but critical of the performance of attacking midfielder Windass on social media. This Is Futbol has rounded up some of the best tweets: Thought our defence was pretty solid tonight. Like the look of goldson and katic, Ejaria looks quality and Middleton impressed also. Windass was pish but that’s not news, tav was ok. — Stu Gordon (@stu_in_edin) July 13, 2018 Windass is sooooooo pish — Christopher Daniel (@WATP_BJK) July 13, 2018 Middleton , if fully fit, must start next Tuesday. Windass just doesn’t do it for me #Rangers — Mev (@kennylanglea) July 13, 2018 Worse at the game, some people cheered Windass being sub’d , shocking behaviour. — Thomas Ross (@coopotb72) July 13, 2018 I would start a traffic cone in front of Windass — GGS (@perthbearblue) July 13, 2018 Windass maybe on the way south. Seems the fans have had enough of his vanishing act’s. — Allan Thomson (@allan_822) July 13, 2018 Josh Windass time tae pack it in lad — Bryan McPhail (@BMcPhail_) July 13, 2018 I’d take a million for windass right now. Can only play one position, even in that position he’s bad and someone else needs to do his job for him. Good riddance to him and his fat da — Dale McArthur (@DaleMcarthur) July 13, 2018 Woahhhh! I never said a word! Just no happy with windass!!! — Auld Orange Flute (@AuldOrange) July 13, 2018 I’d drop Windass for Middleton for Tuesday. — Scott morrison (@scottyboylanark) July 13, 2018 Someone pls come in wi a decent bid for Windass. I can’t watch another season of this imposter. How he lasted 82 mins is beyond me. Happy with result second goal was massive. WATP. — PP75 (@paulpat08884913) July 12, 2018 COMMENTARY: No player divides opinion among the Ibrox faithful more than Windass, whose form oscillates between the very good and the very bad quicker than anyone else’s in the team. The 24-year-old doesn’t always help himself with his social media activity, or his conduct on and off the pitch, but some of the criticism aimed his way verges on the unfair. The Englishman was one of Rangers’ best players last season as he thrived in a new second striker role and his haul of 18 goals and eights assists from 41 matches was very impressive. Sure, he was below par in Gerrard’s first competitive match, but it is early days and premature to start slating him. He needs to get accustomed to a new manager, new playing style and new demands.
