‘We owe them’ – Rangers fans discuss club’s official summer update

Rangers have discovered who they will face in the third round of UEFA Europa League qualifying should they progress past NK Osijek over the coming weeks. Defeating the Croats will see the Gers face Chikhura Sachkhere of Georgia or old foes Maribor, who everyone will remember are based in Slovenia. Maribor of course famously knocked the club out of UEFA Europa League qualifying back in 2011, one of a number of Scottish teams that the Slovenians have humiliated in recent years. Celtic, Hibernian and Aberdeen have all fallen victim to the plucky outfit, who seem to love trips to the country. The draw could have been a lot worse for Steven Gerrard’s outfit, although the coaching staff and players at Ibrox are unlikely to be looking past the immediate threat of Osijek. The away leg in Croatia this Thursday is set to be a tough encounter and there’s no guarantees of even making the third qualifying round. Supporters are feeling confident though and took to Twitter to share their thoughts on yesterday’s draw… Couldnt have asked for a better draw there. Well done to the Masons at Uefa for sorting that for us ???????? — Gary Todd (@sweeney_spb) July 23, 2018 Best draw we could’ve got — Ryan Kerr (@RyanKerr_1) July 23, 2018 Beat Osijek and then give Maribor a good hiding! — Lee Fleming (@Lee_fleck) July 23, 2018 There are no really ‘easy’ games in Europe these days at this stage however, the draw could’ve been far less kind. It’s a must that we take care of Osijek and give ourselves a shot at qualifying for the group stages. — Gareth White (@garethawhite) July 23, 2018 Tricky tie to get through first but there’s no doubts this could have been a lot worse….. decent draw considering some of the others in the hat — Andy (@theboysof609) July 23, 2018 Happy with that the best chance we’ve got to get to group stages! ????#letsgo — Gavin (@g4v1n21) July 23, 2018 Hopefully get through n face Maribor we owe them a beating — Scott Rowand (@ScottRowand) July 23, 2018 I’ll settle for that phew!! — Kris Craig (@KrisCra36569255) July 23, 2018 How do you feel about the latest UEFA Europa League draw? Will the club get past Osijek? Let us know in the comments below…
