Rangers fans on social media have been praising new full-back Borna Barisic after he earned a call-up to represent Croatia in the upcoming matches against Portugal and Spain. The defeated World Cup finalists tackle Portugal in a friendly in Faro in September, before tackling Spain in their inaugural UEFA Nations League match just a few days later. 25-year-old Barisic impressed Steven Gerrard during Rangers’ Europa League second qualifying round victory over Osijek over two-legs to earn a move to the Scottish giants, where he has immediately settled into the side. Capped three times by his nation, Barisic was named in the preliminary squad for the World Cup in Russia but did not make the final cut, though the fact he has returned to the fold immediately suggests he could become a crucial asset in Zlatko Dalic’s preparations for Euro 2020.
