Rangers have captured some incredible signings this summer, but the injury to Jamie Murphy should have Steven Gerrard eyeing one more loan move for Liverpool’s Sheyi Ojo. What’s the story? Gerrard confirmed the news that no fan wanted to hear earlier this week, as Murphy is set to miss the entire season with an ACL injury. The winger injured his knee during the win at Kilmarnock, and Gerrard is now heavily reliant on Ryan Kent hitting the ground running. If the Gers are to get past FC Ufa next week, they are going to need a big squad to compete in both Europe and domestically, which is why a move for Ojo makes sense. The speedy Liverpool youngster is looking for a loan club, and he certainly won’t get European football from any of the Championship clubs lining up to take him. Better than Kent? Ojo has never quite done enough to force his way in at Liverpool, but most Reds’ fans would place him higher than Kent in the pecking order, and there is still a real feeling that he has the potential to go all the way. The 21 year-old can play on either wing, has absolutely electric pace, and his fantastic crossing would be a huge boost for someone like Kyle Lafferty. After a relatively unsuccessful spell on loan at Wigan, the youngster excelled at both Wolves and Fulham, scoring four times at Craven Cottage last season. Goalscoring is probably the one area he most needs to improve, but the Gers should have that covered with both Lafferty and Alfredo Morelos in the ranks. Ojo has played at every level of England’s youth setup, and was part of the U-20 squad that won the World Cup in 2017. His versatility, one-on-one ability, and playmaking would get fans off their seats at Ibrox, and the competition for places would push the likes of Kent and young Glenn Middleton to perform even better. So, Rangers fans, do you think Gerrard should re-visit his old club again? Would Ojo fill the Murphy void? Let us know your thoughts by voting in the poll below…
