'Can definitely do a job' ... Lots of Rangers fans have high hopes for young midfield talent

A lot has been made of Rangers’ new arrivals this summer as manager Steven Gerrard has attempted to put his own stamp on the team. The former Liverpool captain has brought in 11 new players and the club continue to be linked to new talent. One man who has been shown the door – albeit on a temporary basis – is academy player Jamie Barjonas. The 19-year-old has developed his game with the Gers since joining their youth setup in 2008. Now is the time for the central midfielder to gain first-team experience, hence why the club have agreed a loan deal with League Two side Bury. The teenager will compete for a place in the team until January, which is when the arrangement ends. 📝 #RangersFC can today confirm that Jamie Barjonas (@jbarjonas_) has joined English League Two side @buryfcofficial on loan until January. ➡️ https://t.co/XEdPWK7oM8 pic.twitter.com/M5HoEh0v5v — Rangers Youth Academy (@RFC_Youth) August 15, 2018 Gerrard has been focusing on youth since becoming Rangers boss, but it seems that it is too soon for Barjonas to make an impression. Plenty of supporters believe that the midfielder will return with the aim of pushing for a first-team spot under Gerrard. Best of luck. Not a bad little number to get some game time under the belt. — BucketandSpadeBrigade (@WWright_Way) August 15, 2018 That’s a great move.
