On Wednesday afternoon Rangers confirmed that young midfielder Jamie Barjonas had made the move out to English League Two side Bury on a loan spell that would last until January. The 19-year-old youngster has nine senior appearances to his name for Rangers so far and they were all league games following his debut against Partick Thistle back in May 2017 at Firhill. Following the arrival of manager Steven Gerrard though, he has found himself slipping down the pecking order given our options in midfield so the decision to get him out for a chance of greater game time should be applauded. Setting the deal up to expire in January is also sensible as it means Gerrard can reassess in the New Year and if he’s not getting the games we’d like, bring him back and look elsewhere as he continues his development. He’ll now spend the next few months working under Ryan Lowe, a man Gerrard knows well, so chances are it’ll be a good spell for the lad.
