Rangers’ have reportedly had a part-exchange bid for Hearts striker Kyle Lafferty rejected – and a section of fans have delivered mixed verdicts on Twitter. $bp(“Brid_32517474”, {“id”:“13259”,“width”:“16”,“height”:“9”,“video”:“274134”}); Daily Express online sports news editor Bruce Archer claimed on his personal social media site the Light Blues have offered cash plus Lee Wallace as a swap for Lafferty. Hearts have a rejected a cash plus Lee Wallace offer for Kyle Lafferty #RangersFC — Bruce Archer (@Bruce_Archer89) August 12, 2018 Supporters are split between those who want ex-skipper Wallace to stay and those keen for the club to agree a deal for targetman Lafferty. This Is Futbol has rounded up some of the best tweets: He won’t kick another ball for Rangers — KennyGrfc (@kennygrfc) August 12, 2018 Tbf so would I. Cash only is probably more appealing — Chris McLaughlin (@Chr1sMcLaughlin) August 12, 2018 Good. Lee’s a good player and should stay to fight for his place. — Davy (@Davgt5) August 12, 2018 Guy is a bit of a Wallace fanboy or delusional haha — Blue sea of ibrox ???????????????????????? (@watp__54) August 12, 2018 I would be happy to have Lafferty as an option, but he’s not worth more than Wallace. Lee is a fantastic professional. — bigrabsays (@bigrabsays) August 12, 2018 Bruce Archer has never been wrong regarding rangers news — William (@WTownsley) August 12, 2018 So the negotiations start — KennyGrfc (@kennygrfc) August 12, 2018 Why would they need to get Wallace as part if the deal when they can pick him up for free in January … — Neil Doncaster (@DoncasterNeil) August 13, 2018 good. — Liam (@Liamwatp) August 12, 2018 Thought it was only a matter of time before Lee Wallace became part of @RangersFC’s offer for Kyle Lafferty. — London Blue Nose (@londonbluenose) August 13, 2018 COMMENTARY: Rangers fans appear torn over Wallace, the former skipper who still has a disciplinary cloud hanging over from last season and the dressing room ruck with ex-manager Graeme Murty. The 10-times Scotland international is highly respected by a considerable section of Ibrox supporters who recall his efforts in the lower leagues, when he was the outstanding player in some of the weakest Gers sides in living memory. With 259 appearances for Rangers under his belt, Wallace’s experience and pedigree have a value, but the club don’t appear to regard that as high as they once did. By throwing him as collateral in a new bid for Lafferty, the Ibrox top brass are making it clear he is surplus to requirements. Wallace would have surmised that the writing was on the wall after the summer signings of full-back pair Jon Flanagan and Borna Barisic, who have leapfrogged him in the pecking order. He should quit now while the fans still have fond memories.
