Rangers fans are absolutely delighted with the big transfer news this week, as Kyle Lafferty has finally returned to Ibrox. According to Sky Sports, Lafferty had a medical on Wednesday after the two clubs agreed a long-awaited deal for the towering striker. Talks had been ongoing since Hearts rejected a £200,000 bid last month, and a two-year deal was then confirmed on Wednesday afternoon. The 30-year-old, who has scored 20 Northern Ireland goals in 67 caps, will give Steven Gerrard a totally different option up front. The Gers’ boss has made an excellent start to life at Ibrox, and perhaps his most impressive feat has been the resurgence of Alfredo Morelos. Capturing Lafferty means the boss now has three unique options up front, with Roma loanee Umar Sadiq also vying for playing time. Lafferty scored 31 Premiership goals during his first stint with the club, and his knack of scoring against Celtic means he is already a fan favourite. Loads of fans have been giving their verdict on the deal, and you can find some of the best Twitter reactions down below… Great news. Good cover for morelos knows the league and how to be successful with us and also comes back with a wee point to prove. At least one centre back and one more attack minded player and that will give us great competition in the squad — Broxiboy (@Broxiboy1) August 22, 2018 He’s coming home He’s coming back He loves the Union Jack Lafferty!!!! 🔴⚪️🔵 pic.twitter.com/alrWKgmlUB — Simmone 💙 (@SimmoneWATP) August 22, 2018 He’s 7 foot he plays the flute Kyle Lafferty 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧 Welcome Home Big Man #WATP — Stewart Garrett (@StewartGarrett_) August 22, 2018 Lafferty is a cracking signing. Scores goals in big games. Can play anywhere in front 3 and will run through brick walls for the team. Lafferty and Morelos against any central defence in the country will cause problems. — David (@rossd1506) August 22, 2018 Not quite sure how the system will work but the thought of Lafferty and Morelos playing together is an exciting feeling. Think they’d compliment one another superbly and be a deadly partnership. — JMcT (@JMcT1872) August 22, 2018 What a partnership morelos and lafferty will be🔵 — James Hogg (@jamesyhogg_) August 22, 2018 I wasn’t overwhelmed when Lafferty was linked but when I thought about it more it’s actually a logical signing: knows the club, knows the league, can score in the big games and is a big physical presence, also can play across the front 3. I think he’ll do well under Gerrard. — Kirsten (@kirsten93_) August 22, 2018
