With a section of the Rangers fan base effectively writing off striker Alfredo Morelos over the summer, I’m sure many of them are delighted to see him continue to ram their words about goalscoring consistency back down their throats with his performances in front of the net so far in 2018/19. With the Scottish League Cup tie against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park now ticked off the fixture list, Morelos again led to victory in the game as he helped himself to a hat-trick on the day to take his season tally to six goals in eight competitive matches as we continued our unbeaten start to life under manager Steven Gerrard. The game was played amidst ongoing transfer speculation about the young Colombian with reported interest from French Ligue 1 side Bordeaux bubbling on in the background and suggestions, as covered, that we’ve already rejected a £3.75million offer from them for the 22-year-old. His latest performance won’t do anything to quell the speculation but it’ll certainly help his price rise to a level that we simply cannot turn down, or become so high it rules out those clubs keeping a watchful eye on him and we continue to benefit on the pitch. Hopefully get morelos tied down on an enhanced contract and scare anyone off him , — Darren Young (@Darrenyoung2005) August 19, 2018 Morelos was unplayable today. Superb lads ???? — JJ Bird ???? (@JJBRD_21) August 19, 2018 Morelos’ body language at FT; full of smiles, straight to the fans and desperate to grab the match ball – what a difference in a matter of months. Keep this boy happy and he will keep banging them in! — Douglas Kinnear (@Dougiek85) August 19, 2018 #PerfectHattrick — Super Rangers (@BlueStu1872) August 19, 2018 I wish El Bufalo would play like that every match ???????? — Lennox Richardson (@lennyrfc) August 19, 2018 Nah this man is qualityyyyyy???????? — Hugo Santos ???????????????? (@Hugo_Santos123) August 19, 2018 Tav with a hatrick of assists…and morelos with a hatrick…delicious ???? — CJ (@Cjnovo992) August 19, 2018 Alfredo alfredo alfredo alfredo — john rodgers (@johnrod22984907) August 19, 2018 How class is it watching Morelos bully that centre back for his 2nd. He’s a wee bugger. — Gregco (@Gregco_) August 19, 2018 That’s the very smart side of Alfredo’s game. He properly used his strength to get the better of Boyd (I think it was). One of the most rounded performances we’ve seen from him so far. — 54????55 (@6TitlesBetter) August 19, 2018 I’m gonna name my first born child Morelos ! Don’t even care if he’s 11 — Broxi Bear ???? (@BRX1B3AR) August 19, 2018 There are people out there who will still tell you Alfredo Morelos is no good because he missed sitters against Ayr and Celtic. If you don’t rate him it’s because you are either clueless or ulterior motives are guiding your opinion. — Jordan Campbell (@JordanC1107) August 19, 2018 Looks like a different player mate. Brilliant to watch. Love the wee guy. — stinkypete1978 (@stinkypete1978) August 19, 2018 Now all he’s got to do is keep this going and if an eventual goal dip comes, keep working hard to create space and time for others to capitalise.
