Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor has taken to Twitter this afternoon to share his anger with the artificial pitch at Rugby Park. Get these pitches gone!!!!!!! — Allan McGregor (@therealgreegsy1) August 19, 2018 Sitting out today’s Scottish League Cup clash against Kilmarnock, the veteran shot-stopper is clearly not impressed with the state of the artificial surface watching on, especially as it could have been a factor in the injury sustained to Jamie Murphy. The Ibrox attacker had to be stretchered off in the first half with what looked to be a serious injury that could rule him out for a significant period of time. Clearly McGregor is of the opinion that the pitch could have played a part, echoing the thoughts of Rangers managers in the past who have blasted the surface at Rugby Park. In 2016, former boss Mark Warburton claimed that the surface was a contributing factor to an injury sustained by Martyn Waghorn. Good on McGregor for bringing this issue into the headlines once again. Is it time for sub-par artificial pitches to be banned in the Scottish Premiership? Let us know in the comments below…
