Burnley keeper Anders Lindegaard on growing up watching ex-Rangers duo Brian Laudrup and Erik Bo Andersen – and facing ‘tough test’ against Aberdeen

HE grew up on a diet of Scottish football. Watching the likes of Brian Laudrup and Erik Bo Andersen strut their stuff for Rangers made him a childhood fan of our game. Keeper Anders Lindegaard came on for Burnley against the DonsScottish News and Sport So there was no way Anders Lindegaard was ever going to treat Aberdeen lightly. The Danish keeper came off the bench for Burnley in the first half against the Dons when England squad star Nick Pope was taken off with a serious shoulder injury. Former Manchester United man Lindegaard was soon beaten by Gary Mackay-Steven’s penalty and suffered several other worrying moments as the Dons went for the jugular. In the end, Burnley’s class shone through with Sam Vokes’ late equaliser — but the stand-in keeper wasn’t surprised it was such a slog. He said: “When I was younger you had Brian Laudrup playing for Glasgow Rangers and you also had Red Erik — Erik Bo Andersen — who was from my childhood club, Odense. “He is from over near Aalborg but he played for Odense. And one time he actually came to the club I was at when I was a youth player. It was a really, really great atmosphere and better than many English Premier League stadiums. “It obviously means a lot to the Aberdeen fans and that shone through in the game. That makes it a very difficult place to come here and play.” Much of the build-up to the game was dominated by English jibes at Scottish football because of Adam Rooney’s switch from Pittodrie to Salford City. The first 60 minutes we were passing it around too much and being a bit too nice. “It was difficult to find openings because Aberdeen were clearly well structured. Their manager has done a good job with his team. They were difficult to break down. “It would be a mistake to think it’s going to be easy at Turf Moor. The game is nowhere near done.
