Rangers midfielder Greg Docherty is set to exit the club just months after arriving in the January transfer window, with a number of teams in England eager to take him on loan. The Daily Record report he is heading out of the door, with Sunderland and Rotherham looking to sign him. Supporters got the chance to see the 21-year-old in action on Sunday when he played against Wigan in a friendly win, but he looked distinctly off the pace and lacking confidence, misplacing a number of passes and leaving some fans in no doubt that a loan move is best for him. Graeme Murty signed the player in January from Hamilton and he made 14 appearances in the second half of last season, looking like a player with the kind of midfield potential that could be a real benefit to Rangers. However, Gerrard has strengthened the middle of the park since arriving with Scott Arfield, Lassana Coulibaly and Ovie Ejaria all looking like his preferred picks heading into the new campaign. That leaves little room for Docherty and rather than have him sit on the bench for a season, a loan move in a different football environment than the Scottish Premiership could be a great learning experience for him. There’s every chance that when he returns he can impress the Gers boss. What do you make of the potential Docherty loan exit? Let us know in the comments…
